This will be a regular-season NBA game as part of the 2026-27 season, one of multiple games in Europe, in addition to those in Berlin, London, and Paris. It will be a key part of the NBA's multiyear plans to bring regular-season games to Europe. Manchester has seen NBA action before, previously only for an exhibition game (2013).

Fixture Details

This will be a battle of young talent as four Rising Stars will feature, Castrol Rising Stars Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen (2026) will suit up for New Orleans alongside two-time All-Star Zion Williamson, 2022 All-Star Dejounte Murray and other Pelicans, while 2025-26 NBA Defensive Player of the Year and two-time All-Star centre Victor Wembanyama, two-time All-Star De'Aaron Fox, 2024-25 NBA Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle, 2026 Rising Star Dylan Harper and other Spurs will be the visitors.

This will be the Pelicans' second game in three days after clashing with San Antonio in Paris on Thursday 14 January at Accor Arena.

About the NBA Manchester Game

This will be the league's first-ever regular-season game in Manchester, the culmination of discussions between Manchester City Council and the NBA about bringing NBA action to Manchester. It will be the only regular-season NBA game in the UK outside London this season, part of an increased number of games in Europe, an increase the NBA has credited as being down to increased demand for basketball in the region.

NBA games have been staged in Manchester before, previously just once, back in 2013, albeit an exhibition match as part of preseason action.

Co-op Live – The Venue

Co-op Live opened in May 2024 after a build that cost in excess of £365m, boasting a maximum all-seated capacity of 20,500, or a maximum of 23,500 with standing room available. It is the biggest indoor arena in the UK, a step up from arenas that have staged NBA games in Europe in recent seasons, Paris' Accor Arena has a maximum capacity of around 15,000 for basketball, while London's O2 Arena has a maximum of around 20,000 for basketball.

It is located on the Etihad Campus in east Manchester, also home to Basketball England's headquarters. The arena was operated by Oak View Group in conjunction with City Football Group. Designed by architectural firm Populous, Co-op Live has already staged UFC, WWE, and world title fights. For basketball, the court will be laid out in the centre of Co-op Live, with the bowl wrapping around, meaning upper-level seats will be closer to the court compared to some other arenas.

The Teams

New Orleans Pelicans

A young and exciting Pelicans squad built around explosive All-Stars will visit Manchester, led by two-time All-Star forward Zion Williamson's distinctive combination of size and explosiveness and 2022 All-Star point guard Dejounte Murray. They will be accompanied by 2026 Castrol Rising Stars Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen.

San Antonio Spurs

The reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year is part of a talented young Spurs side who will be making his first visit to Manchester. Two-time All-Star Victor Wembanyama's imposing presence in the paint will be supported by a backcourt led by two-time All-Star point guard De'Aaron Fox alongside 2024-25 NBA Rookie of the Year guard Stephon Castle and other key figures.

Wembanyama's European Swing

Raised in the Paris suburbs, All-Star Wembanyama will see his second-straight season in which he plays in Europe during his club's regular season. He had a strong showing in Europe and will look to repeat that in Manchester.

Manchester is readying itself to welcome back the NBA for the very first time as New Orleans Pelicans travel to Co-op Live on Sunday 17 January 2027 to face the San Antonio Spurs. It will be a fixture for the ages as the Spurs roster is stacked with exciting young players including 2025-26 NBA Defensive Player of the Year and two-time All-Star Victor Wembanyama and this is Manchester's first-ever regular-season NBA fixture.

Types of NBA Manchester Games Tickets

Co-op Live tickets for NBA games include courtside/floor seats, lower bowl seating, mid-tier boxes, and upper tier seats. Courtside will be the top-shelf NBA Co-op Live tickets that will be snapped up immediately, but those looking for a more affordable option should consider seats in the lower bowl at the ends of the court, behind each basket. These are often much cheaper than sideline seats and don't offer up a huge difference in sightlines. The upper tier at Co-op Live has the most seats and the arena is a modern, purpose-built venue so even these will be perfectly adequate.

Where To Buy NBA Manchester Games Tickets

NBA Co-op Live tickets were made available from Co-op Live, the NBA's European ticketing outlets, and Co-op had a member's presale option for its Pelicans vs Spurs tickets. We'd recommend buying NBA Co-op Live tickets from fans or verified sellers on Ticombo, our ticketing marketplace that has a purchase Guarantee. These are the only tickets which are guaranteed to be delivered in time for the event and are authentic or we'll refund your purchase in full, that's the Ticombo Guarantee. Prices on Ticombo are set by sellers and will vary depending on supply and demand.

The Pelicans and Spurs are no strangers to Manchester. In fact, all NBA teams are no strangers to Manchester. The first regular-season NBA games were held in London's O2 Arena back in 2011 featuring the New Jersey Nets and Toronto Raptors. Since then, eight more games have been held at the venue, cementing that there are enough basketball fans in the UK to fill a 20,000-seater arena for an NBA fixture.

The Other Leg: NBA Paris Games

This is the first time the league has come to Manchester but it's far from its first visit to the UK. Indeed, there's even a Manchester connection in the Pelicans-Spurs game. Manchester's first-ever NBA fixture will be played just three days after a corresponding fixture in Paris on Thursday 14 January 2027. Paris has been the hub of the NBA in Europe since 2020 and is set to remain so for the foreseeable future with the Pelicans-Spurs game at Accor Arena a must-see fixture alongside this trip to England. The two fixtures could easily be combined into a mini-tour of European hoops as direct flights between Manchester and Paris are quick and inexpensive and there's also a direct rail option.

What To Expect On Game Day

Victor Wembanyama is the biggest name in basketball right now and it's safe to say that a large proportion of those in attendance will be there to catch a glimpse of the Frenchman, raised in the Parisian suburbs, in action. The Pelicans boast an exciting group of players, including two-time All-Star forward Zion Williamson and 2022 All-Star Dejounte Murray. The Pelicans also fielded two Castrol Rising Stars in 2026 in forward Jeremiah Fears and centre Derik Queen.

The Spurs aren't far behind boasting two-time All-Star point guard De'Aaron Fox orchestrating the offence alongside 2024-25 NBA Rookie of the Year, Stephon Castle and 2026 Rising Star in forward Dylan Harper.

This will be Manchester's first ever regular-season NBA fixture and its first ever competitive NBA fixture. It will mark the first competitive NBA fixture held in the UK outside London too as Manchester's only previous appearance was an exhibition game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Philadelphia 76ers on 8 October 2013 at what is now AO Arena.

Expect an afternoon of big-time American-style entertainment alongside some cracking hoops as the NBA looks to attract UK-based fans. You can expect the majority of the crowd to be Wemby-watchers or neutrals but there will be an array of colours on display from other teams in attendance. Doors will be opened from 3.00 p.m. ahead of Sunday's fixture.

Getting To Co-op Live

The Co-op Live is located on the Etihad campus in Manchester's east, at 1 Sportcity Way. Designed by Populous it is operated by Oak View Group and Manchester's City Football Group and is home to Basketball England alongside Manchester's other international-standard sporting venues. Manchester City Council has been key to landing the game with the NBA to bring the regular season to Manchester for the first time.

On Sunday 17 January 2027, the New Orleans Pelicans will be visiting Manchester to take on the San Antonio Spurs in what will be the first ever NBA game to be played in Manchester.

This game will be an official regular-season game of basketball with the outcome counting towards the New Orleans Pelicans' and San Antonio Spurs' final league position, making this a key game for both teams. New Orleans will be considered the home side. Doors are confirmed to open at 3:00 p.m.

The New Orleans Pelicans are one of the most entertaining teams in the league, a roster of exciting young talents alongside two of the most explosive and exciting All-Stars in the game. Meanwhile, the Spurs are led by reigning 2025-26 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Two-time All-Star centre Victor Wembanyama and an exciting crop of young talent. Both teams have plenty of star-power with exciting players including Two-time All-Stars Victor Wembanyama and Zion Williamson, 2024-25 NBA Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle, 2026 Castrol Rising Stars Jeremiah Fears, Derik Queen and Dylan Harper and Two-time All-Star point guard De'Aaron Fox, alongside 2022 All-Star Dejounte Murray. However, it's difficult to predict which players will be selected to travel and take court at this stage, with availability heavily dependent upon fitness and form as the game approaches.

NBA fans in Manchester will be excited that the Pelicans and Spurs face off just three days after their game in Paris at the Accor Arena on Thursday 14 January 2027 as the Pelicans and Spurs travel around Europe, with Manchester joining London, Paris, and Berlin on the NBA's exciting multiyear schedule of regular-season games around Europe. The Pelicans and Spurs are the first confirmed teams to be involved, with more games and teams to be announced soon.

When To Buy NBA Manchester Games Tickets

Tickets can be purchased from Ticombo right away. Remember, ticket availability on resale sites like Ticombo comes from fans whose circumstances mean they can't make it to a game they've already secured their tickets for, rather than unsold tickets, so it's not possible to say with certainty what tickets will be available for purchase closer to the date of the game. The makeup of tickets will be different closer to the game and we anticipate changes up until January. If you're travelling, we recommend securing your tickets first and then sorting out accommodation, as this is the element of your plans that will be the hardest to change should your availability change.
