Experience world-class racing at Autodromo Di Monza!
In 1922, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza was born, and since then, the facility has evolved but hardly missed a beat. Monza, a mere fifteen kilometers north of Milan, is now home to one of the world's preeminent motorsport venues, a "cathedral of speed" that hosts an array of motorsport events, not just contemporary F1 races. Seeing any of them up close is a true bucket-list kind of event. Yet, with the rising cost of living, high-profile F1 races have become the gold-plated, luxury-embedded moments that less and less seem accessible to us.
The Monza circuit, which has existed since 1922, is one of the most famous in the world. Known for its incredible speed, not only because of the long straights where drivers can build up to incredible speeds but also because of the historic nature of the place, Monza has hosted the Italian Grand Prix almost without interruption since it first began holding that event in 1922. The only time Monza has missed hosting the Italian Grand Prix was in 1937; every other year since 1922, it has hosted the event.
You find emotional tifosi, exuberant fans of Scuderia Ferrari; Monza is theirs, as they crank up the volume of the national anthem and shake rattles three times for good luck in the way only tifosi can. The atmosphere is a mix of passion, nostalgia, and speed that you just won't find anywhere else in the world of racing.
Monza may not be the most technically challenging course, but it is "unforgettable" and "awe-inspiring." Nowhere else in the modern Formula 1 calendar can a racecourse rival Monza's performance potential. Circuit design determines everything that happens within its confines, and Monza's basic configuration — long straights punctuated by sharp turns — mimics the nature of speed itself. This is not a course designed for subtle choreography or balletic displays of precision. It is, quite simply, a speedway, and that element alone places it in a class all its own.
Yet, as any driver or engineer worth their salt will tell you, speed can be achieved only when a car and driver perform as one, and that perfect union requires both good engineering and good fortune. The circuit at Monza, however, demands more than that. It demands something which, as a driver, you might be tempted to think of as unfair: Monza demands rhythm.

Autodromo Nazionale Monza holds a central place not only in motor racing but also in the hearts and minds of Italians everywhere. Monza has been a living museum of sorts — a not-quite-perfect venue that nevertheless preserves a rare ambience — that has offered three generations of Italian racing fans a chance to witness the visceral thrill of a Grand Prix. For decades, the Autodromo di Monza has staged many historic moments for Ferrari and motorsport in general. Among them:
The raw speed of Juan Manuel Fangio in 1957.
The incredible close battle of Graham and Jim Clark in the 1960s.
The impressive display of defensive racing from Ayrton Senna in 1991.
The dominance of Michael Schumacher in the early 2000s.
To miss this one Italian Grand Prix since 1950 was considered a near-impossibility, given the history and spectacle the venue has produced. Yet, it has been redesigned more than once to suit the times, with so many lives at stake since the 1980s, when circuits like this one introduced safety-first chicanes. Even today, Monza wants to be fast and very exciting without being excessively dangerous.
Autodromo Di Monza Facts and Figures
Signature Turns: The Varianta del Rettifilo, a high-speed sweeping curve that opens onto the main straight; the Curva Grande, a long, flowing bend that demands high-speed aerodynamic stability; the pair of Lesmo corners, which are so technical they can almost be described as a mini-donutchicane; and the legendary Parabolica, which leads back onto the start-finish straight. These segments collectively convey why Monza is the preeminent motorsport venue — a track of high speed, as well as one that demands the drivers' full technical attention.
Autodromo Di Monza Seating Guide
Choosing where to sit at Monza is like picking a line in a corner: It makes an enormous difference in the experience, yet no one really agrees on what the best choice is. On the quibble scale, choosing to sit in a good spot is worth a sizable portion of the total ticket price.
Best seats at Autodromo Di Monza
I'd place Grandstands 6 and 8 as my top two choices. Grandstand 6 looks downhill over the Lesmo corners. Although it's not a too steep hill, the sightlines are excellent, and you'll see all the action as the cars edge toward and into the first of the two dangerously tight Lesmo corners. Grandstand 8 is right up against the Parabolica. This is another great place to sit; from these vantage points, you'll witness the two greatest moments of truth on the whole circuit — if I had to break down the whole track into two segments and give them grades, the Ferrari-grade corners would be the Lesmos and Parabolica. For those who seek an intense, intimate experience with the Circuit's most famous sections, Grandstands 6 and 8 cannot be beaten.
