Experience world-class events at St James Park!
St James Park is a football cathedral in Newcastle upon Tyne. A historic ground where devoted fans gather for an authentic sporting spectacle. It is an amazing place to see and hear a true Geordie football experience. If you want to try and understand what makes English football so special, what makes one football ground different from another, then consider St James Park.
On match days, energy floods the stadium — the fans' shared enthusiasm turns the very ground into something so much more than a mere assemblage of concrete and steel; it becomes a crucial part of an unforgettably intimate experience. The passions of the people not only inside the stadium but also outside it, in the narrow streets and alleyways leading up to it, blur the line between the public and the private. Altogether, they give the playing of a game here a significance that transcends that of any other performance in a theater, either classical or modern.
Getting you hands on St James Park tickets means much more than just witnessing a match. You gain access to the cultural core of Newcastle. Whether you have supported the club for decades or are simply going to the ground for the first time, you receive a guaranteed footballing welcome like no other in the northeast, and the promise of memories that will last longer than the time it takes for the final whistle to sound.

About St James Park
St James Park History
In central Newcastle, St. James Park has been home to Newcastle United since 1892, making it the oldest football stadium in North-East England. The stadium has seen football evolve into a global game. Its silhouette, sitting atop a hill, is one of the most recognizable on the Newcastle skyline.
Newcastle United's ever-changing fortunes reflect what you see today at St. James' Park. Wooden stands to modern stadia — transitioning from one to the other mirrors different episodes in the club's history. There are three humongous episodes of progress, though, and they all come with big names attached upstairs. And all three bring the club not only into this century but also shovel it into the future as well.
St James Park Facts and Figures
This stadium accommodates 36,610 spectators who make an intimidating amount of noise. Measuring 105 by 68 meters, the pitch hosts thrilling matches played in the Premier League.
The distinctive profile of St James Park emerges from its asymmetric design, notably featuring the towering Leazes End and an imposing East Stand. You can see the unusual shape of the stadium from above, and the highest point for a spectator is 32 meters above the pitch.
Despite proposals to relocate, St James Park remains where it has always been — the very foothold of the club in the life of Newcastle. It is so deeply rooted here that, like any other kind of meaningful community, it could surely no more up and relocate than it could go out of business.
St James Park Seating Guide
Best seats at St James Park
Selecting the optimal seat can heighten your matchday experience. The Milburn Stand offers views that are second to none for those who really want to see the game played out in front of them as the managers intended. It runs right alongside the pitch, with magnificent sightlines and a level of shelter that can make all the difference in inclement weather.
Gallowgate End is where the most passionate fans gather, making it an ideal place to experience all of the game's intensity. Even if the views are a little more restricted, the energy in this space makes any seat a good one.
The East Stand may be favored by families and others desiring a calm environment, for it offers that — and also a good view of the pitch. Meanwhile, the Platinum Club's front row brings you right up against the action and into the vibrant atmosphere of a match.
St James Park Seating Chart
The venue comprises four stands: west (Milburn), east, and north and south (Gallowgate and Leazes Ends). This is seating for over 52,000 fans, most of whom are crammed into a classic bowl with no obstructions.
Every viewpoint has several levels, the upper ones giving you a broad but remote view of the competition, and the lower ones putting you close to the action. Many corners, in addition to being inexpensive, are decent places to view whatever is happening.
The Platinum Club and similar executive areas in the stadium combine an unsurpassed level of comfort with a nearly impossible-to-match vantage point. The areas tend to be somewhat small, around 12,000 to 15,000 square feet, but they are cavernous compared to the seats they serve. That's because they actually serve the fans, allowing them to experience the event in a way that's nearly indistinguishable from the experience the players have; and in some respects, a better experience.
How to get to St James Park
Parking at St James Park
Due to its location in the heart of the city, St James Park fills up fast on big-match days. The nearby St John Street car park offers an easily accessible option, within a very reasonable walking distance to the stadium.
The only advice to fans driving to and from the game is to arrive very much ahead of kick-off time and to expect a very slow journey home afterwards. Grosvenor Casino provides specific rates for match days that are well liked by our regular customers. If you prefer to drive to our event, there are various car parks in the city centre to choose from, but don't expect the walk to the stadium to take much less than 15-20 minutes.
For parking that accommodates accessibility needs, the club offers a limited number of blue badge spaces that can be reserved ahead of time.
Public Transportation to St James Park
The simplest method of reaching St James Park is by using public transport. It is approximately a 15-minute walk from Newcastle Central Station, which is a rail and Metro station that serves the city of Newcastle upon Tyne and the surrounding metropolitan area. The station is located in the vibrant city center and is close to several major developments, including the Gate leisure complex and the new City Council offices.
St James Metro Station, which is directly next to the venue, connects the Tyne and Wear Metro system with the ground. The station provides direct access from areas like Newcastle Airport and Sunderland. How about we add that on top of the extra service we already have for train access on match days?
The vicinity benefits from the service of multiple bus routes, which stop at strategic points on Barrack Road and Gallowgate, placing you mere minutes from the stadium entrances.

St James Park Facilities
Food and Drinks at St James Park
The concourses at St. James' Park serve traditional stadium fare such as meat pies, chips, and tea. But in recent years, they have added a wider range of healthier and more interesting options that reflect the local character and regional tastes.
Areas of hospitality, including the Platinum Club and executive boxes, offer a superior dining experience with menus that feature an artful take on North-Eastern cuisine.
Accessibility at St James Park
It is a priority to provide accessibility for all visitors to St James Park. This includes: dedicated toilets; first aid stations; and areas to store wheelchairs properly. St James Park also has what is called "changing place" facilities. These are not your run-of-the-mill restrooms. They are larger, with special gear to help those who need it (like caretakers and the people they're caring for) to go potty.
Accessible public transport is available, and blue badge parking spaces can be arranged in advance; however, the availability of parking is limited because of the stadium's central location.
Latest St James Park News
The count down to the next season of the Premier League is on, and St James' Park is preparing for another campaign of top-flight football. Star striker Alexander Isak looks set to remain at Newcastle United, much to the delight of fans who have been anxious about his future amid transfer speculation.
Callum Wilson, a one-time leading striker for Newcastle United, has signed a one-year contract with West Ham United, closing the recent chapter of his soccer life in the northeast of England.
Even though the Premier League timetable is not set in stone, the excitement grows each week. Preparations at the venues are full steam ahead to guarantee an unforgettable matchday experience when supporters are allowed back into the grounds.
