After 20 years, the virtual band has achieved their most profound comeback — one which they are taking to the UK, Ireland, and Europe in 2026. And this time, fans everywhere — across these stages and beyond — have been granted access to an event they're likely to remember for a long time.
When it comes to the genre-defying performances you can expect from Gorillaz, all is fair in hip-hop, rock, dub, and just about anything else you might want to categorize them as, since the virtual band's founding in the year 2000. You could say that the collective that fronted these four animated characters has turned each of its albums into a live experiment and has now taken this live show to new heights in venues across all of the UK, Ireland, and Europe. But regardless of what genre box you're most comfortable with, we're calling this show one of the 21st century's most compelling live acts. Whether you remember the band for its revolutionary alternative hip-hop sound or are simply curious about the latest global rhythms it's toyed with in recent albums, 2026 is about to add another chapter to this exceptional narrative. Tickets for this event will be available on November 21, 2025, at 10 AM. Among the confirmed locations where you can catch the band are in BP Pulse Arena, First Direct Arena in Leeds, Utilita Arena Cardiff, and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham. If you live in Ireland, you can hear them live at the 3Arena in Dublin. If you're going to Primavera Sound in Barcelona next year, you can catch them there, too, at Parc del Fòrum.
The "This Is ALIVE!" tour brings Gorillaz to multiple venues across the UK, Ireland, and Europe throughout 2026. The performances let the audience experience a combination of virtual and physical presence. They are surrounded by enormous projection screens that throw the animated characters — the band's "members" — into their midst with the virtual presence or the physical presence on stage of the artists animating the band's characters.
So what can you expect from a "This Is ALIVE!" show? For starters, it's not your typical concert. Unlike other bands, the places where the band plays offer a multimedia experience for the audience. And it's especially unpredictable. The band has been known to let guest artists lend their presence to the songs on stage — that same presence that the guests seem to inflect into the beats.
Whether it's pure presence alone or their virtual presence speaking through the enormous setups in the enormous places that the band likes to play in, it's an experience that's not just for the fans but also seems to inspire (and maybe even scare) the fan's parents. Each performance brings a new form to the familiar songs and allows the band to express the interesting directions in which their art has evolved. The arena shows coming up promise -- in the band's signature way -- much more than the experience one might access by listening to a recording. One hard-and-fast rule that will stand: in recreating what's captured on a studio recording at a live show, the band and the performance will promise an intense experience of what the song "means" at this moment. Why go to see a band perform in an arena? Because they've raised and conquered the arena as a space; because the arena is, in some way, theirs. That intimacy was a powerful expression of what the authorities most sought to convince us post-Rock Werchter last year: that an arena could be a comfortable place for a music fan and that an enhanced festival appearance could likewise be. This connection to the comfort and to the person of the fan is facilitated by the strength of buyer protection and ticket verification systems in the secondary marketplace.

In 1998, musician Damon Albarn and cartoonist Jamie Hewlett envisioned a virtual band. This was both a satire on pop-superstar formation and a framework for higher ambitions. The concept: four fictional musicians with fake backstories, living in a fake studio (Kong), playing fake music. The reality: something altogether stranger and more wonderful.
Gorillaz's first album (2000) is courageous precisely because it's a trip-hop act with hip-hop pretensions doing a rock act with punk posturing. You'd think it'd be a terrible idea, but actually Gorillaz makes for some thrillingly visual music. The videos shouldn't overshadow the music. "Dare" took over the airwaves while upholding artistic honesty, showing that production experimentation and pop reach aren't mutually exclusive.
"Plastic Beach" brings the focus to collaboration, the now-famously "Plastic" in-studio collaboration that took place during the album's creation. The set lists from this era speak for themselves. Yet it's the album's production that will carry the most serious impact. Hearing it, hearing it for the first time, is an act that will resonate in one's mind repeatedly.
The project's refusal to adhere to any one predictable style or set of tones has succeeded in keeping the creators and the audience engaged in the endless act of reinvention.
The timing for when tickets go on sale for individual concerts varies by venue and market, but those dates are typically announced a few months ahead of the performance. The shows and their designated host cities are announced. Tickets are typically released in the order of three waves, with presale opportunities for fan club members, credit card holders, or venue members before public sales. Knowing about these presale windows is crucial. Following the official social media of the band and the first edicts from the venue greatly enhances the chances of obtaining tickets during these windows for a primary face value transaction.
