Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua
British boxing has been wanting Tyson Fury to face Anthony Joshua for eight long years now. An original bout between the pair fell through in 2021 having been agreed in principle and a second in December 2022 ran into contractual difficulties. After both men were defeated by Oleksandr Usyk, on two occasions in fact, Fury retired before Joshua suffered a stinging loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley in September 2024.
Fury returned to the fold in April of this year while Joshua has been back in action since July and the pair will finally get their fight now having been booked for Cardiff in December. Neither man enters the bout as champion, and it's not sanctioned. But it's certain to be a hugely important contest for British boxing given the pair's reputations and the fact they've been circling each other for so long.
Cardiff's Principality Stadium has been selected to stage Fury's clash with Joshua. The event will take place in the early hours of Saturday 12 December 2026 (Friday 11 December in the UK) to allow US primetime scheduling. Ring walks for the main event are likely to take place well past midnight on 12 December.
The big, state-of-the-art Principality Stadium, which has a closable roof, has a maximum capacity of 80,000 people and Joshua has actually boxed in front of big crowds there before, he stopped Carlos Takam in front of a claimed 78,000 in October 2017 and defended his world titles successfully the following March (March 2018) when he outpointed then-champion Joseph Parker to unify three belts.
The stadium is located directly within Cardiff's city centre on Westgate Street and opened in 1999. For boxing events the ring is built on the pitch and floor seats are erected with spectators then occupying the floor area and the three tiers of the bowl. The council has been working on licensing for Fury/Joshua.

The bout was confirmed on 24 September 2026 by The Ring, a publication under Turki Alalshikh's remit, as well as Dana White and Netflix. Joshua's camp, Matchroom Boxing, has been happy to promote the bout but Fury is still contracted to Frank Warren's Queensberry promotion despite White's involvement. Matchroom's Eddie Hearn has queried how involved White will be in the bout's promotion while Warren has maintained Fury cannot be promoted by Dana's Zuffa Boxing company.
Questions have been asked over Fury's anti-doping status and promotion issues threatened to derail the bout in late September 2026. Whoever wins next faces the winner of champion Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley's WBO title fight.
Fury vs Joshua will take place in Cardiff on the weekend of Saturday 12 December 2026 and it promises to be an occasion that will go down in boxing history. It's the fight that was supposed to have taken place years ago, before Joshua opted to take on Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker at Principality Stadium instead.
The bout is being promoted by Fury's camp, Queensberry, and Joshua's Matchroom Boxing and will be broadcast worldwide to Netflix subscribers without a PPV charge.
Tyson Fury (36-2-1, 25 KOs) is 38 and will be looking to add to his win over Arslanbek Makhmudov back in April at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Anthony Joshua (30-4, 27 KOs) will be 37 come fight night but has beaten Kristian Prenga in July.
Neither man currently hold a major world title but Joshua was a two-time unified heavyweight champion while Fury was WBC champion (and Ring champ, see below). Joshua was a London 2012 Olympic gold medallist and Fury's legacy is arguably the greater of the two, Fury's title reigns have been better than Joshua's and he's also had some great fights.
But these are the only two British heavyweights who've been heavyweight champions. It's long been a tale of the tape matchup with Joshua's knockout percentage exceeding Fury's.
Fury has taken the biggest knocks of late: losing on points to Oleksandr Usyk in December after losing in May. Fury's comeback has been smoother though. He announced his retirement in January but quickly changed his mind and has since won twice, one of those wins coming after he'd not won a fight since 2023!
Joshua has one comeback win under his belt. He was emphatically beaten by heavyweight champ Daniel Dubois at Wembley in September 2024 and lost twice to Usyk before that, in 2021 and 2022. Before that it was Andy Ruiz Jr back in 2019.
Fury has more wins (36-30), Joshua has more KOs (27-25) and Joshua's KO% is higher but Fury is 6ft 9in, Joshua is 6ft 6in. Fury held the WBC belt (and The Ring magazine title, more on that below) between 2020 and 2024, Joshua held the IBF, WBA and WBO belts over two reigns. Fury took those belts off Wladimir Klitschko on points in Düsseldorf in 2015.
It's an intriguing match. It's a fight that should have taken place eight years ago. It'll take place this time. And the winner could be the best British heavyweight ever…
Fury vs Joshua will take place at Principality Stadium in Cardiff and will be held as a boxing show, meaning that the stadium's layout will be very different to concerts. There'll be Floor/Ringside seats around the ring and those are the priciest tickets in UK boxing! The first rows of Floor/Ringside seats are lower than the Lower Tier seats but position matters!
Most of the 80,000-plus will be in the middle and upper tiers and will be viewing the action on the big screens. Premium tickets are being sold through the usual avenues.
Tickets for Fury vs Joshua will be on general sale at midday on Friday 9 October 2026, this was announced at a presser in London on Wednesday 30 September. You can only buy eight Fury vs Joshua tickets per household/individual and extras will be cancelled.

The Netflix-broadcast Fury vs Joshua card was announced by The Ring, the organisation controlled by Turki Alalshikh, alongside Dana White and Netflix. Queensberry's Frank Warren confirmed Fury's interest on Wednesday. Fury has a Queensberry contract, Joshua is promoted by Hearn's Matchroom Boxing. Fury stopped Mariusz Wach in Pattaya, Thailand on July 24. Joshua beat Prenga in Riyadh on July 25, a fight that looked easier than it turned out to be. Fury needs another win after Usyk beat him twice, Joshua needs a bounce-back win after the loss to Dubois who will fight Fabio Wardley for the WBO belt. Licensing is yet to be agreed with Cardiff Council. If you've got Fury vs Joshua tickets you can't use then list them on Ticombo, we'll confirm them and add them to Ticombo and take care of payment for you.

It may not be for a world title, Fury lost the WBC title to Oleksandr Usyk (who also beat Joshua twice) and Joshua's reign ended when he was emphatically dethroned by Daniel Dubois at Wembley in September 2024, but this is the biggest non-title fight in heavyweight history.
Fury has been waiting eight years for this. Joshua, who will be 37 on the night, has been waiting longer still since Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker in Cardiff. It will be Joshua's biggest ever local fight, he knocked out Takam here in 2017 and outpointed Parker in 2018, and Fury's biggest ever fight since beating Wladimir Klitschko on points in Düsseldorf in 2015 to unify the division.
Fury's record is superior to Joshua's, but Joshua's defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019 was arguably costlier. Fury has also failed to make a fight of his last two, stopping Arslanbek Makhmudov in April and Mariusz Wach in July. Joshua beat Kristian Prenga in July but has been on the back foot since losing the belts.
Fury has been far more consistent. Joshua has been up-and-down but it's difficult to criticise either man's form given what has befallen them since Usyk and Dubois.
Dubois will face Fabio Wardley for the WBO title at The O2 in London on 17 October. Whoever wins will be the obvious choice for the victor of this bout.
The undercard has yet to be announced, but Netflix promised a big night of boxing, so you can be certain it will be more than just Fury and Joshua. Given the scale of the occasion and the capacity of the venue, it's difficult to imagine the card being thin and starting late. Expect a full night's boxing that will conclude after most public transport in Cardiff has ceased operating.
Given the broadcast is aimed squarely at the States, ring walks are likely to take place in the small hours of 12 December (Saturday) UK time to coincide with prime time on a Friday evening Stateside. Fury's corner have been calling for ring walks to be brought forward but it's hard to see that happening. It should be noted that arrangements with Cardiff Council had not been finalised at the point the fight was confirmed, so this could well change.
This is a one-off affair, the card will not be repeated, so if you're on the fence about going, don't be. Tickets will be snapped up. There's no second leg.
The fight was confirmed on 24 September 2026, with Fury and Joshua facing off again late on 11 December (Friday) at the Principality Stadium on Westgate Street in Cardiff. Netflix will be showing the event around the world for free to subscribers.

If you're happy with whatever seat you can get on that day, buy them straight away. If you know you want to be right up there, buy them straight away. If you're happy to sit upstairs, you can wait, more tickets will be available later on at higher levels.
Tickets will start appearing on Ticombo from a few weeks after the on-sale date. Plans change, schedules are incompatible, you name it, there will be Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua tickets on Ticombo with the Ticombo Guarantee.

The stadium is in the centre of Cardiff, a few minutes' walk from Cardiff Central station, which is the single biggest advantage it has over comparable venues. Cardiff Central runs direct to Bristol, Birmingham, London Paddington and Swansea, and the city centre is small enough to cross on foot.
The catch is the finish time. With the main event in the early hours of Saturday, the last trains will have gone long before the final bell. Anyone not staying overnight should plan for a very long wait or a very expensive taxi. Streets around the stadium close to traffic on event days, so driving in is not a realistic option either.
Two British heavyweights, eight years of failed negotiations, 80,000 seats under a closed roof in Cardiff, and no title to justify any of it. General sale is midday on Friday 9 October.
