About Southend United

Since 1906, Southend United Football Club has been the emblem of identity and pride in Southend-on-Sea. Known affectionately as "The Shrimpers," the club has served as a byword in its community for dedicated perseverance, enduring itself through periods of hardship and triumph. For more than a century, the club has maintained a deep connection with its supporters and the local community.

Despite some setbacks, the club has shown time and again that it knows how to make a comeback. This isn't just on the field; Southend United's ability to triumph — off the field as well as on — has been recognized through various community initiatives and engagement programs that strengthen the bond between club and fans.

Southend United History and Achievements

Southend United Key Players

Luke Prosser is a cornerstone of the Southend United defense. His aerial dominance and positional intelligence make him a reliable stopping point for the team, no matter the opponent.

Luke Garbutt - As a veteran presence, Garbutt offers a blend of experience and composure. His tenure across multiple tiers of English football provides a tactical perspective that enriches the squad with experienced leadership. At left back, he is a few notches above in terms of tactical understanding and within 30 yards of the opponent's goal, Garbutt can deliver a mean cross.

Sammie Szmodics - Szmodics manages to produce for the team to the tune of significant goals and assists. His play with the ball at the foot makes the team better, whether he's supplying the final ball to someone else, creating a scoring opportunity for himself, or just getting down the field with the ball. Unlike some winger types, Szmodics is excellent when it comes to his defensive duties.

Jack Marriott is the finisher that every team desires. Marriott knows how to play to his own strengths: staying calm when things are getting frenetic, being tenacious with loose balls, and having enough composure when he's about to shoot or pass. He's a player who just knows where to be.
