October 4, 2025 – World Para Athletics Championships: This major international event is held every two years and is the foremost championship event of its kind. Athletes are pushed to the absolute limits of human possibility, with many of them well exceeding what any able-bodied athlete has achieved.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the capacity of La Cartuja?
The official capacity of the stadium is 70,000. However, depending on the type of event, the maximum capacity might be slightly lower. For example, it could be less for athletics meets or concerts, which require substantial staging and/or allow for track configurations that safely accommodate large numbers of people without the venue exceeding its official capacity. Spectators take their seats before Spanish national football team matches in recent years and events headlined by other performers.
What time does La Cartuja open on event days?
It depends upon the event's scheduled start time. Most of the time, the doors start opening 90 minutes to 2 hours before the event's scheduled start time.
