About FC Volendam vs Feyenoord

Founded in 1920, FC Volendam is a club long identified with its community and rooted in the past, a past that stretches back over a century and is closely tied to the town's maritime heritage and vibrant folk traditions. Although Volendam's trophy cabinet has very few glistening prizes in it, and the team has almost no successful European match history to boast of, the Volendam that appears on the Kras Stadion pitch against a team like Feyenoord is nonetheless an ensemble that carries with it a deep sense of local pride. Feyenoord's stature is both historical and contemporary, with a record that embraces 15 Eredivisie titles, four KNVB Cups, and a European Cup victory in 1970. Its fanbase, known for its passionate "Rotterdamse Nachthemel" chants, frequently fills stadiums across Europe and matches its intensity with on-field achievements. The impending April 3, 2026, match with Volendam is a classic "David vs. Goliath" confrontation. While Feyenoord has a commanding lead in the Eredivisie head-to-head (68 wins, 23 losses, and 17 draws across 108 matches), the human element of each past encounter renders them almost sacred in football memory. As nearly 7,000 fans inside the Stadion Volendam will surely demonstrate, a match against Feyenoord is an opportunity for the underdog to pull off a surprise in almost any narrative achievable within the laws of the game. Tactical intrigue added to surprise narrative opportunities is why oh-so-predictably Volendam will likely set itself up to play for a low score, a counterattack, and a moments-to-score chance off a set piece.

FC Volendam vs Feyenoord Rivalry History

Memorable Matches

Though Feyenoord has a commanding record against FC Volendam when looking at the total number of wins, losses, and ties, multiple individual matches have showcased the unexpected, creating memorable moments in the Dutch football rivalry.

• April 19, 2015 – FC Volendam 2 – 1 Feyenoord
In a match often held up as a shining example of underdogs securing victory over expected favorites, FC Volendam conquered Feyenoord 2–1. The match had a great opener for Volendam with a first-half goal by Johan Vos, and then a pretty tense officiating moment that had several FC Volendam players arguing for a red card after defender Milan van den Berg scored an epic counter-attacking goal for Volendam in the 90th minute of play.

• September 30, 2018 – FC Volendam 0 – 3 Feyenoord
A totally different story for this match. This one was over pretty early; Sergiño Dest scored two pretty decent first-half goals en route to a hat trick. FC Volendam put up little fight; they never got a shot off in the first half and only one in the second half. That's embarrassing. Most people who actually went to this match can probably only fondly remember what City of Volendam looks like after sunset.

• May 12, 2021 – Feyenoord 4 – 2 FC Volendam
This match had a lot going on, and it was a pretty decent candidate for a match-of-the-season sort of reference. Like, if you were trying to go to a match-of-the-year sort of reference, I think you'd go for this one. The rivalries we are elucidating here are familiar to teams and fans. They feature close matches decided in the dying moments, which generate tension. They also include one-sided beatdowns where the victor's goal differential nearly equals the population of the vanquished's hometown. What's great about these nemeses is that they offer plot lines that continue to deepen as time goes by. Who will win next? Who has the most plot armor? Which club is going to deliver a more electrifying performance?

Players who represented both clubs

There are two players of note who have worn both jerseys at different points in their respective careers. They are Roy Makaay and Dirk Kuyt. Makaay enjoyed a goal-scoring ascent that took him to the top of a European league and then to the Champions League with Bayern Munich. He scored a few goals in this match while playing for De Kooning in the Rotterdam neighborhood of Feyenoord. Kuyt scored a ton of goals in this match while playing for both clubs; and after while rocking the hoop in the Ephesus, and he's indeed the most dangerous player to have featured in this rivalry. The amazing divergence and convergence of talent in virtually every position on the pitch — that is, the players' trajectory — is a potent reminder that within the Dutch football development model, ties with smaller clubs are never fully severed; they can be as pivotal as the relationships formed at the academy level, where young players forge the identity that allows them to realize their potential.

Witness this epic rivalry live!

In real time, the strategic duel will unfold before the eyes of the spectators, providing an educational experience second to none for those who aspire to coach or analyze the beautiful game. What could be more edifying than the opportunity to sip from the fire hose of elite-level decision-making at that instant when the coaches and players make the good, the bad, or the ugly choices that will determine the game's outcome? Absent the direct experience of playing, coaching, or leading a military unit in the field of battle, what could be closer to the actual "grit" of elite decision-making than unmediated access to the choices made by the head man and his lieutenants as the game unfolds?

When to buy FC Volendam vs Feyenoord tickets?

Strategic timing influences both ticket availability and the bottom line to get you into the stadium for the match. Kras Stadion can only seat a little less than 7,000 people, making it a real struggle to get a ticket for a Volendam match, especially when the opponent is a high-profile team like Feyenoord.

Regular Resale (1–2 weeks prior) – If you haven't already struck gold in the presale, your chance to get that coveted ticket won't be enhanced by the fact that prices tend to go up, at least by another ten euros, when these secondary sellers make your availability known to them. That's not a ten-euro plus sign for any given ticket, mind you; that's ten euros for the bunch.

Last Call (48 hours before kickoff) – There is one sweet spot in the ticket economy when it comes to what happens right before a match. If seats remain, you'll see them priced higher than they've probably ever been. The good news, again, is that it's probably not going to come to this, because turnaround times for ticket sales are such that this serves more as an alternate entry to the venue on a first-come, first-served basis. Enduring pricing in ticket markets for Feyenoord matches has became a near impossibility; your ticket for that morning can only be had as part of a lucky draw.

Despite its modest financial resources, FC Volendam has not lost a match at home in its last ten Eredivisie encounters. This is no accident. Volendam head coach John van Dijk has his players well organized, and they are not easy to beat at SV Stadion Oost. If you want to see how easy or hard it is to beat Volendam at home, you be must in the Netherlands on April 3, 2026. If you're not in the Netherlands and still want to watch this game, your best bet is to find a live stream or a TV that offers Dutch Eredivisie matches.
