Guadalajara Stadium Facts

Estadio Akron is considered to be one of the most architecturally stunning stadiums in the Americas. Located in Zapopan, a municipality within the Guadalajara metropolitan area, the stadium opened in 2010 as the new home for Chivas de Guadalajara, one of Mexico's most popular football clubs.

The stadium's signature element is its volcano-inspired design with an exterior lattice structure that creates a distinctive silhouette. Estadio Akron already uses natural grass, which meets FIFA's standards for World Cup matches.

Estadio Akron has hosted Liga MX finals, CONCACAF Champions League matches, international friendlies, and the 2011 Pan American Games. The stadium's modern facilities and passionate Guadalajara fans make it an ideal World Cup venue.

Seating at Guadalajara Stadium

There is something for everyone's budget when it comes to World Cup 2026 Guadalajara Stadium tickets at Estadio Akron. FIFA organizes seating and pricing into categories. All seats are assigned seating – no general admission or open seating.

The best seats are those classified as Category 1, which are generally at midfield in the lower and club levels. They are the most expensive 2026 World Cup tickets and offer the best vantage points.

Category 2: Sitting in a high level seat but very close to the action or sitting in the lower bowl with a side view and being significantly cheaper.

Category 3 tickets: These seats are in the upper tiers and behind the goal. These World Cup 2026 tickets might not be as close to the action but are also electric.

The lowest tier of tickets — the Category 4 seats — will be the cheapest option in the stadium, but it will be the furthest seats from the action — if you're looking for a World Cup 2026 experience.

If you buy multiple tickets at once from the same listing, they will all be seated together at the stadium. Accessible seating is available.

Best seats at Guadalajara Stadium

The top seats for the World Cup 2026 in Guadalajara are the sideline seats in the lower bowl at Estadio Akron. The stadium's design provides excellent sightlines throughout, with a steep seating bowl that brings fans close to the action. Guadalajara's pleasant climate means comfortable conditions for summer matches. If you are looking to save money on World Cup 2026 tickets, I suggest seats in the upper deck behind the goal.

History of Guadalajara Stadium

Estadio Akron opened in 2010, replacing the historic Estadio Jalisco as the home of Chivas de Guadalajara. The $200 million venue was designed by French architect Jean-Marie Massaud and represents one of the most ambitious stadium projects in Mexican football history.

The stadium hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2011 Pan American Games, as well as athletic events during the games. Estadio Akron hosting World Cup 2026 matches adds to Guadalajara's proud football tradition.
