About Lincoln Financial Field
Lincoln Financial Field History
Lincoln Financial Field, also known as The Linc, is a multi-purpose stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. It is the home field of the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL) and the Temple Owls football team of Temple University. Most of the people refer to the stadium simply as "The Linc". The stadium opened on August 3, 2003, after two years of construction that began on May 7, 2001, replacing Veterans Stadium as the home stadium of the Eagles. While total seating capacity is similar to that of "The Vet", the new stadium has expanded premium seating options, including club seating and luxury suites. The field has a natural grass surface. Naming rights were sold in June 2002 to Lincoln Financial Group, for a sum of $139.6 million over 21 years. Additional construction funding was raised from the sale of stadium builder's licenses to Eagles season ticket holders. The Army–Navy Game has been played at the stadium in 2003, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2018. On January 23, 2014, it was announced that the stadium will host the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship.
To start, Veterans Stadium is torn down to build a new stadium for football in the present day. In August 2003 the stadium opens and it is bigger and better than what fans expected. The seats are wider and have more legroom and although the stadium is more spacious, the aura of a hostile place for opposing teams is not lost.
After 20 years of being the site of countless great events, this stadium will be remembered for many historic moments — from playoff matchups that shaped teams into ones that played in front of stars of the soccer world to concerts that brought the pitch alive with music. The recent upgrades in 2023 were the biggest stadium-wide updates that have happened since the stadium opened and will be the first of many that will keep this stadium up-to-date while preserving its history and personality.
Lincoln Financial Field Facts and Figures
The stadium was opened on August 3, 2003, and was constructed at a cost of $512 million. It has a seating capacity of 69,176, and can expand to 69,796 when including standing-room only areas. Lincoln Financial Field features a grass playing surface, and the stadium has received several names: Lincoln Financial Field (2003–2012), Lincoln Financial Field: The Linc (2013–2017), and Lincoln Financial Field (2018–present).
Some of this story can be told in statistics: 67,594 seats for football; seating that can be increased for other events; a bowl that is sunk below ground level to allow the crowd noise to be funneled up to the field, making the stadium one of the loudest in the NFL (an assertion made by several opposing players); club seats that go up several levels; suites that set the standard for the market.
While the design elements serve a purpose, there's also an attempt to balance it with some aesthetic: The openness helps keep the stadium true to its roots as an outdoor, weather-dependent football stadium, but still offers some areas that are covered. The technological advancements that have been made in various stages help keep the stadium relatively up-to-date, without straying too far from its roots. The most recent round of renovations in 2023 concentrated mostly on upgrading the overall fan experience, with expanded options for concessions and fluidity throughout the stadium.
Lincoln Financial Field Seating Guide
Best seats at Lincoln Financial Field
Lincoln Financial Field offers a diverse range of seating options to suit every fan's preferences and budget. Here's an overview of the different seating areas: The upper level: These seats are located above the club seats and suites. They generally offer a good view of the field but at a lower price point compared to the club seats. Club seats: Situated between the lower and upper levels, club seats provide excellent views of the field and access to indoor club lounges. Lower level: Seats closest to the field are considered lower level and are typically the most expensive. They can be behind the goalposts or along the sidelines. Suites: Luxury suites are available for groups or those wanting an upscale experience. Standing room only (SRO): For sold-out games, standing room only tickets may be purchased, allowing fans to stand behind the seating sections. Lower end zone seats are cheaper than those at midfield. Seats behind the goal line are usually the least expensive option.
The best seats at Lincoln Financial Field are usually in the sideline sections that span the width of the field. These seats offer an excellent view of the entire field, with a good angle to follow the action happening on both sides. As for specific seats, the lower rows are generally more desirable, especially in the sections closer to midfield. However, the upper rows in certain sections may also provide a great experience, depending on your preferences.
The best views will depend on your needs and budget. Seating near the 30-yard line on the lower level is hard to beat for those who want to be as close to the on-field action as possible. Not only will you see the skill and physicality of the game, you'll be best able to follow the plays developing in front of you. Tickets in these areas are the most expensive for a reason.
The club level offers the best compromise between having a higher vantage point but not being too far from the action, having indoor warmth on cold Nov/Dec days, and better food/drink options. The 200-level seats are some of the best bang for your buck, they're high enough for a good vantage point, but not so high you feel like you're detached.
Don't sleep on upper deck seats. The seating configuration allows you to remain closer to the action than many upper levels of older stadiums and still have tremendous sight lines from the top row. It's a trade-off of proximity for the big picture and a price point that allows you to affordably attend several games.
Lincoln Financial Field Seating Chart
Philadelphia Eagles Seating Chart - Lincoln Financial Field
Understanding the overall structure of the seating arrangement can help guide your ticket-buying choices. The arrangement curves around the field in a horseshoe shape, with seats in each tier numbered sequentially. Lower level (100 level sections) is closest to the field. Club level (200 level sections) is in the middle and offers more upscale accommodations. Upper level (300 level sections) is more affordable.
When sitting in the endzone seats, you can expect to see plays running right at you or away from you. On the sideline, you have a more traditional view of the field, which is ideal for seeing plays moving across your field of vision, and watching the offense line up. By referring to the venue seating chart, you will be able to see exactly what you'll see when you sit in your seats.
How to get to Lincoln Financial Field
Parking at Lincoln Financial Field
Directions to Lincoln Financial Field. First off, the best way to get to the Linc is by subway. Hop on the Broad Street Line (BSL) from Center City and get off at Pattison Avenue. Lincoln Financial Field is a short walk straight down Pattison Avenue.
The Lincoln Financial Field parking lot is enormous, with 8,500 spaces available for visitors to park their vehicles. While there are many spots, parking fees are expensive. Additionally, visitors are not permitted to leave the premises and re-enter. Parking fees range from $25 to $55 depending on the time of arrival and the type of vehicle (e.g. bus or RV).
Citizens Bank Park is part of the South Philadelphia Sports Complex and there is ample parking all around the stadium. There are different lots depending on distance from the stadium and price. Lots closer to the stadium usually fill up first and cost a bit more, but they are closer.
Get there as early as possible – parking lots usually open 3-4 hours prior to the start of the event and traffic entering the lot gets more and more backed up closer to the start time. Buy your parking in advance through the venue or a ticket broker to ensure you have a spot. The parking lot gets very crowded during events so allow plenty of time to get there.
Public Transportation to Lincoln Financial Field
If you're not driving, the best way to get to Lincoln Financial Field is by using the SEPTA public transit system. The stadium has its own stop on the Broad Street Line, which is convenient and efficient. You can hop on the subway and get off at the AT&T Station, then follow the signs to the stadium. It's a quick and easy ride, and you don't have to worry about parking or navigating through traffic.
If driving isn't your thing, then the stress-free option is the SEPTA Broad Street Line. When there are games, you can hop on the sports express that takes you to the Sports Complex stops, which will drop you off right at the stadium. Trains usually come more frequently when games are going on, but often the cars will be standing-room only so make sure to catch the train at the beginning of the line if you want a seat.
The NRG Station is dedicated to the sports complex, so there isn't any question of what stop to get off on. SEPTA does typically add more trains to the line after games and concerts, but it will be crowded. It is much cheaper than parking and you won't have to deal with traffic, so it is a go-to for frequent visitors.

Lincoln Financial Field Facilities
While Lincoln Financial Field isn't necessarily the oldest stadium, it's still a bit outdated. That being said, it's not in terrible shape by any means. The concourses are a tad narrow and the concessions could be a bit more expansive. However, there are plenty of restrooms, which is always a big plus in my book. Overall, the facilities here are decent, but not spectacular.
Food and Drinks at Lincoln Financial Field
Lincoln Financial Field offers a wide variety of food and drinks, including Philly cheesesteaks, soft pretzels, and local beer. You can also find healthier options and specialty items throughout the concourse. Prices for food and drinks are generally comparable to what you'd pay at other stadiums, but be prepared for long lines at popular vendors.
Concession stand food ranges from the standard ballpark hot dogs, pretzels, burgers, fried everything, etc. to a wide variety of other choices that showcase the quality of Philadelphia's food. The choices increase in the suites and clubs.
And as is usually the case at larger event spaces, outside food and drinks are not allowed. While I have had some issues with the concession offerings, there is usually something for everyone and the options are getting more diverse and vegetarian-friendly. As far as drinks go, there are domestic and craft beers offered and the selection of the craft beer has grown as the concession experience has improved.
The tailgating section in the parking lot is different. Outside food is welcome here. Some people treat the tailgate as a big of a deal as the game itself, pulling in hours ahead of time to set up.
Accessibility at Lincoln Financial Field
When it comes to amenities, Lincoln Financial Field has a little something for everyone. To begin with, the stadium offers numerous entry points. There are 11 total gates with each one designated by a letter of the alphabet (A through K) and all are equipped to accommodate fans with disabilities. Concourses are spacious and well-organized. The same can be said of elevators, which are both plentiful and easily accessible. Sight lines are another strong point. The upper deck seating areas are not raised too high off the ground, making for a comfortable viewing experience. For fans with visual impairments there are headsets that provide play-by-play descriptions of the action on the field (these can be found at Guest Services behind Section C-17 on the main concourse). Closed captioning also is available on ribbon boards throughout the stadium.
This facility is equipped to meet the needs of guests with disabilities and is completely ADA compliant. Accessible seats are available in every price category, and companion seats are also available. Elevators service all levels of the facility and accessible restrooms are conveniently located on each concourse to minimize the distance between facilities.
Disabled parking is available with parking lot spaces being conveniently located for disabled persons to enter the stadium. Being a new stadium, it has been well-designed.

How much are Lincoln Financial Field tickets?
Lincoln Financial Field ticket prices on the market can vary depending on a number of factors. Typically, Lincoln Financial Field tickets can be found for as low as $38.00, with an average price of $72.00.
The reason that you can't find a straightforward answer is because prices fluctuate. Whether it's a playoff game or regular season matters. Where in the stadium, upper level corner seats aren't the same as lower level seats.
Strength of opponent matters when it comes to supply and demand on the resale market. So does when you buy tickets. Prices tend to be lower the sooner you buy. Prices can run from a few bucks to four figures for some of the best seats to some of the biggest games.
What is the capacity of Lincoln Financial Field?
The seating capacity of Lincoln Financial Field is .
The stadium seats 67,594 for football, which puts it just below the middle of the pack among NFL stadiums. That is a seated figure, and some seating can be added to the stadium.
So we hit right at a capacity that was big enough that we can create the energy and the revenue that we needed, but small enough that it still was really efficient to operate and didn't have that stadium-like feel.
What time does Lincoln Financial Field open on event days?
Gate times differ based on the type of event but for an NFL event, you can expect the gates to open 2-3 hours prior to the start of the event. This should provide more than enough time to get through security, find your seats, grab a bite to eat and get settled before the pre-game festivities begin.
If you get there when the gates open you can beat the security lines, beat the lines at concessions, catch a little pregame warm up action, and most importantly just enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere. The party in the parking lot starts much earlier as some serious tailgaters get to the stadium hours and hours prior to kickoff.
