Switzerland vs Colombia Tickets – World Cup 2026 Round of 16 Match 96
Switzerland vs Colombia tickets have now been released for Round of 16 Match 96 of the 2026 World Cup. Switzerland vs Colombia is a key Round of 16 fixture on 07 July 2026 that will take place at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver as Switzerland looks to reach a World Cup quarter-final for the first time in more than 70 years and Colombia's in-form dark horses look to extend their run and book a place in the last eight.
Switzerland vs Colombia Tickets
Switzerland vs Colombia is one of the most intriguing Round of 16 fixtures on the 2026 World Cup schedule as it pits two of the best defensive teams in the field against one another. Switzerland topped Group B without defeat before edging their Round of 32 opponents, while Colombia were top of Group K ahead of Portugal and keep three straight clean sheets.
The winner of this Round of 16 match-up will progress to the quarter-finals, which will take place at Arrowhead Stadium on 11 July 2026 and keep the World Cup 2026 Final dream alive for those who make it. Given that Switzerland are on the verge of history and Colombia's yellow army are travelling en masse, expect Match 96 tickets to be in high demand in BC Place.
Switzerland's Path to Match 96
Switzerland were one of the most predictable sides at any major tournament and they backed that up by topping Group B without losing a game. Murat Yakin's squad opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Qatar in the San Francisco Bay Area and then went on the strike against Bosnia and Herzegovina, scoring four in Los Angeles to win that contest 4-1. Switzerland sealed top of their group with a narrow 2-1 win against the hosts, Canada, as Rubén Vargas and breakout star Johan Manzambi got the goals in a match that ended the hopes of a Canada World Cup 2026 knockout stage run.
The Swiss came through to the Round of 32 stage without losing a game in any of their matches thus far. They earned that qualification with a tactical, disciplined display against Algeria at BC Place and they saw out the win with ease, thanks to first half goals from Breel Embolo, and just after half-time from Dan Ndoye. It was a historic day in Swiss history, as it was their first ever win in a World Cup knockout match after a wait of 88 years and they can look to extend that win in Vancouver.
Colombia's Path to Match 96
Colombia were one of the top dark horse sides at the 2026 World Cup and they came in, top of Group K ahead of Portugal, with seven points and they conceded just once. Colombia have played some good football and that has been backed up by some really solid defending from Néstor Lorenzo's men, who kept a clean sheet against Portugal to guarantee that top place.
That set up Colombia as a side to keep a close eye on at this tournament as they missed out on the 2022 World Cup and were looking to return with a vengeance. They got that off to a flying start against Ghana, a tough team to overcome in the Round of 32. The win came courtesy of a goal in a match played in front of a sea of yellow at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Jhon Arias scored inside the opening quarter-hour after a cross from substitute Luis Suárez, and from then on Colombia were in complete control – not once did they allow Ghana to take a shot on target. It was a third successive clean sheet and the first victory over another nation in a World Cup knockout game since Colombia made it to the 2014 last-eight, setting up the quarter-final fixture against Switzerland in Vancouver.

Switzerland vs Colombia Round of 16: Match Preview
This is an intriguing matchup of two tactically solid teams who have rarely met on the biggest stage. For Switzerland, this is an opportunity to make history: the Swiss have qualified for the knockout phase at four consecutive World Cups, but had not won a knockout tie until they overcame Algeria. A win in Vancouver would see Switzerland progress to the quarter-finals for the first time since the 1954 World Cup. For Colombia, the tournament has been better than expected and will look to advance to the quarter-finals for the first time in 12 years.
In terms of structure, both teams are defensively well-drilled. Switzerland are organized and rely on Granit Xhaka in midfield, while Colombia have conceded just one goal throughout the tournament and have attacking options in Luis Díaz and the creative play of James Rodríguez. This will be an extremely tight and tactical game, but there might still be something special for both teams to show on the ball.
It will be interesting to see who will show their true form. Switzerland's lack of an out-and-out goalscorer is offset by their willingness to score from multiple positions; the Swiss will be led by Embolo up front. Colombia may have a more pronounced attack, and if they can exploit any opening from a Swiss side that has already shown how difficult it is to break them down (as seen in Algeria's case), they could be in great trouble. If Switzerland defends as they did against Algeria, they can hope to enter a World Cup quarterfinal for the first time in 72 years, but Colombia has the firepower to take advantage of any mistakes Switzerland may make.
Current Form and Key Stats
Switzerland are unbeaten and have won three World Cup games in a row for the first time in their history, and have been excellent in defense behind goalkeeper Gregor Kobel and center back Manuel Akanji. Colombia have been arguably even better defensively over the course of their knockout run. They've kept three straight clean sheets, have a settled lineup and have a confident look about them under Lorenzo. Both teams come into this Round of 16 matchup after wins in the last 32, so this could be one of the better balanced contests in the round.
