Euro 2028 Tickets will be the most sought-after tickets in Britain and Ireland this decade. The 18th European Football Championship, held between 9 June and 9 July 2028, features 24 teams playing 51 matches in 31 days in nine stadiums in eight cities in England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland. The opening match takes place at the National Stadium of Wales in Cardiff, and the final is played at Wembley on Sunday 9 July 2028. This is the first European Championship played on these shores since Euro 96. There are no ticket prices or sales dates yet — UEFA is due to confirm those details in the autumn of 2027.

Euro 2028 Tournament Info

Euro 2028 is the first men's European Championship staged across the four home nations and the Republic of Ireland simultaneously. 24 teams compete in 51 matches over a period of 31 days, with the format remaining the same as Euro 2024.

The way the tournament is hosted is unique. None of the five home nations receives automatic qualification — England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland must all qualify via the standard route. However, they do receive a guaranteed venue: any of the host countries that does qualify automatically gets its group games played in front of its own home supporters.

Northern Ireland are no longer a match venue. In September 2024, the UK government confirmed it would not pay for the redevelopment of Casement Park in time, so Belfast has been removed as a match venue. The city will stage the Euro 2028 qualifying draw in December 2026 and if Northern Ireland qualify they will play all three of their group games in England.

Euro 2028 History

The European Championship started in 1960 with four teams and has become the second biggest football tournament in the world behind the World Cup. The tournament has been played with 24 teams since 2016 and it will remain the same in 2028.

Britain and Ireland have only been hosts once before. England hosted Euro 96, the tournament that remains the benchmark for a generation of English supporters, and Wembley was the venue for the semi-finals and final. Wembley hosted the Euro 2020 semi-finals and final as well, with Italy winning the final against England on penalties in front of 67,000 fans.

The 2028 final is set to be Wembley's third European Championship final, more than any other stadium has hosted in the tournament's history.

Euro 2028 Format

There are 24 teams in six groups of four. The top two teams in each group go through to the round of 16, along with the four best third-placed sides. From then on it is straight knockout football, through the quarter-finals and semi-finals to the final. The route through the tournament is set in stone, which means teams that qualify already know their potential route to the final as soon as the draw is made.

The kick-offs are at three times — 2pm, 5pm and 8pm BST — and each of the host cities will host at least two separate groups so their fans can watch as many different teams as possible.

The knockouts are designed to take place away from one venue — eight of the nine stadiums will host a round of 16 match, with Wembley being the only exception. The four quarter-finals are played in Cardiff, Dublin, Glasgow and Wembley. Both the semi-finals and the final are in Wembley.

Teams to Watch at Euro 2028

The qualifying draw doesn't take place until December 2026, but the biggest teams on the continent will all be in pursuit of a spot.

Spain are the powerhouse of European international football, France and Germany are always in contention, and Portugal are the reigning Nations League champions.

England have the added incentive of hosting the tournament after making the last two European Championship finals. Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Croatia and Türkiye round out the top contenders.

For Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland, qualification is even more important. A home European Championship occurs once every generation, and none of those three countries can take a place for granted.

Hosting a major tournament transforms everything. For English football fans, the benchmark will always be Euro 96, and Euro 2028 will be the first opportunity for anyone under the age of 50 to watch a senior men's tournament across Britain and Ireland.

The venues are fantastic. Wembley accommodates 90,000 and hosts both semi-finals and the final. The National Stadium of Wales is in central Cardiff with a retractable roof, and plays host to the opening match. Hampden Park and the Aviva Stadium bring big tournament football to Scotland and Ireland, while Villa Park appeals to the purists — steep, urban and undeniably a football stadium.

The proximity of the cities is another bonus. Cardiff, Newcastle, Glasgow and Dublin each provide a great single-city football weekend, and the train connections between English host cities mean you can reasonably expect to attend two matches in two days, something which isn't always possible in a European-wide tournament.

UEFA hasn't released any pricing information, and won't until after the final draw in December 2027.

Euro 2024 is our best guide. There, tickets were divided into four categories ranging from about €30 for accessible seating up to about €200 for the best seats, with the final priced from €95 to €1,000. UEFA has always kept a relatively low price range at recent championships to ensure that matches remain accessible to regular fans, and it is likely that will continue in 2028.

There will be a huge difference in pricing depending on which stage of the competition. Group stage games at the smaller English stadiums will be cheapest. Quarter-finals in Cardiff, Dublin and Glasgow will cost a bit more. Semi-finals and final at Wembley will be another league altogether.

Matches involving the host countries will be in high demand. Any game played by England at Wembley, Scotland at Hampden, Wales in Cardiff or Ireland in Dublin will be massively oversubscribed.

When To Buy Euro 2028 Tickets

Nothing is on sale yet and you won't see any tickets until well into 2027.

The qualification draw takes place in Belfast in December 2026. Qualifying runs throughout 2027. The final draw is in December 2027. UEFA will announce ticket prices and sale dates in autumn 2027, before the draw takes place, so fans can apply for tickets by venue and stage, rather than team.

The immediate issue is accommodation. Hotels in London for the first weekend in July 2028 will sell out way ahead of the tickets being offered, and the same is true for Cardiff in the opening weekend. Anyone thinking of attending multiple matches needs to keep an eye on the venue schedule, not the team schedule, since it won't be possible to tell which teams will play in each group until December 2027.

When sales start, the ballot will be overwhelmingly oversubscribed. You can apply through the official UEFA website first. The only other realistic option if you miss out is to buy tickets via a verified resale site.

Current Euro 2028 Updates

The complete fixture list was published in November 2025, confirming all 51 matches and the nine host venues. Cardiff hosts the opener on Friday 9 June 2028 and Wembley Stadium holds both semi-finals on 4 and 5 July with the final on Sunday 9 July.

Every stadium except Wembley will host one round of 16 game and the four quarter-final locations are Cardiff, Dublin, Glasgow and Wembley. Each host city will also host at least two separate groups and the fixture list has been constructed to minimise travel for teams and fans.

Belfast's Casement Park lost its place after the UK government confirmed in September 2024 that it would not fund the redevelopment, but the city will still host the qualification draw in December 2026.
