Conference League Tickets will allow entry to UEFA's third club tournament, and the only one that will take European football to areas the other two don't. The 2026/27 season is the sixth edition and it will run from the first qualifying round on 9 July 2026 through to the final on Wednesday 2 June 2027 at Beşiktaş Park, Istanbul. An impressive 165 clubs from 54 of UEFA's 55 member associations will be involved, with 36 progressing to the league phase, all matches being held on a Thursday. Crystal Palace won the tournament in Leipzig last May, but they will not be able to defend their title this season. Conference League Tournament Details

Launched in 2021, the Conference League is the most recent of the three UEFA club tournaments, designed to offer a genuine pathway to Europe for the majority of its members. That has been very successful. In its five previous editions, it has seen Italian, English and Greek clubs win the trophy, and has allowed European football to be enjoyed in Kosovo, the Faroe Islands, Gibraltar and Andorra.

The sheer number of participants is one of the most eye-catching elements of the tournament. 165 clubs from 54 associations enter across the qualifying rounds and the competition proper, which is more teams than the Champions League and Europa League put together. The 12 highest-ranked national associations will enter one team each, so you'll find one Premier League side and one from La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga, but also one from Iceland, Armenia and the Faroe Islands.

The winners of the Conference League automatically earn a spot in the Europa League league phase of the next season, which makes Conference League Tickets a way to climb the continental ladder rather than reaching a dead end.

Conference League History

The tournament started in 2021/22 as the UEFA Europa Conference League and was renamed the Conference League in 2024. Roma were crowned the first ever winners in 2022 under José Mourinho, followed by West Ham in 2023, Olympiacos in 2024 and Chelsea in 2025.

In 2026, Crystal Palace became the latest winners, securing a 1-0 victory against Rayo Vallecano at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig. It was their first-ever campaign in European competition, and their first ever European final — arguably the perfect case study for what this tournament is all about.

Like the rest of UEFA's European competitions, the Conference League underwent a significant format change in 2024/25, when the group stage was replaced by a single 36-team league. The Conference League league phase differs slightly from the other two in that each team plays six matches rather than eight.

Conference League Format

There are 36 teams in the league phase, with one shared table and six fixtures played each between October and December, usually on a Thursday evening. 24 clubs begin in the league phase, while the other 12 gain entry via the play-off round in late August.

With only six fixtures instead of eight, the league phase is notably shorter and more condensed. It will take place from 15 October to 17 December 2026, condensing the whole league phase into nine weeks and wrapping it up before Christmas.

The eight highest-ranked teams will progress directly to the round of 16, while teams placed 9th to 24th will contest a two-legged knockout play-off in February. The better-placed team will host the second leg of the play-off. Clubs placed below 24th are eliminated. It's the usual knock-out format (two-legged ties) from the round of 16 through to a one-off final for the trophy (which is 57.5cm high and weighs 11kg).

Who won last season's Conference League?

Palace were crowned winners of the 2026 Conference League after a 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano in the final held on 27 May at the Red Bull Arena, Leipzig, in front of a crowd of 39,176. Adam Wharton was voted man of the match, while Ismaïla Sarr scored nine times in the tournament, making him both top scorer and player of the competition.

The Eagles cannot go back to defend their crown as the tournament victory earned them a spot in the 2026/27 Europa League league phase, where the current rules mean it is not possible to move down a division once that stage has begun.

The total attendance last season was 1,924,546 fans in 153 matches, an average of 12,579 per game, fewer than the main competitions. Hence the lower ticket prices!

Clubs to watch out for in the 2026/27 Conference League

The final 36-team line-up will only be decided when the play-off round finishes on 27 August, but even the qualifying draws have already seen some interesting teams pop up.

Brighton & Hove Albion carry England's single entry and face Tromsø in the play-off round. Meanwhile, Ajax, Copenhagen, Braga, Rapid Wien, Austria Wien, Partizan, Dynamo Kyiv, Hajduk Split, Twente, Gent, Midtjylland and Hibernian remain in the main path.

The champions path, though, provides plenty of colour with such teams as Lincoln Red Imps (Gibraltar), Klaksvík (Faroe Islands), Víkingur Reykjavík (Iceland), Shamrock Rovers (Republic of Ireland), Drita (Kosovo) and Inter Club d'Escaldes (Andorra) in the hunt. Several of these will qualify for the league phase, and a select few will host big European names at home in a stadium that can hold just a few thousand spectators.

The cheapest European football around, and the most unique. Average attendance last season was 12,579, roughly half what you'd get for a Europa League match, and far less than a Champions League tie. That means smaller grounds, nearer views, and a price tag that makes it possible to attend a European away match without having to go into debt.

You'll also see locations that won't appear elsewhere in Europe's club competitions. You may end up in Reykjavík, Tórshavn, Gibraltar, Pristina or Andorra la Vella, and you will see European nights played out in three or four thousand-seater stadia with perhaps a quarter of the stadium in visitors' colour.

The final is in the Beşiktaş Park on the European side of the Bosphorus in Istanbul. This is the venue that hosted the 2026 Europa League Final (Aston Villa beat Freiburg 3-0), and the 2019 UEFA Super Cup (Liverpool beat Chelsea on penalties). Capacity is roughly 42,000 and it is within walking distance of the city centre.

Ticketing presents a distinct challenge in the competition. Some clubs are required to play in stadia holding three to eight thousand, and a high-profile club arriving could result in demand being 20 times higher than the supply. Conference League Ticket Prices

Tickets for the Conference League represent the cheapest European football available, by a considerable margin.

Mid-range European grounds typically offer their league phase tickets for under €40, with some lower-tier clubs offering European matches at a premium of a few euros over what they charge domestically. It really is the defining characteristic of this competition — a UEFA night for less than the cost of an average Premier League ticket.

Where stadia are smaller, that logic changes. Tickets for a tie between a major European club and a stadium with a capacity of four thousand are going to be significantly more expensive and will sell out within a matter of hours of the draw. These are the ones to grab immediately rather than keep an eye on.

From the knockout stages onwards, in February and beyond, the prices will increase steadily, and the Istanbul final offers a unique set of circumstances, though it is still the most affordable of UEFA's three finals.

When to Buy Conference League Tickets

The key date is Friday 28 August at 13:00 CET. Until the league phase draw takes place in Nyon, there are no matches to be played and nothing can be put up for sale. All 108 league phase games will be revealed simultaneously, and they will go on sale within a matter of hours.

Here the buying window is much wider than for the senior competitions. With the first matchday of the competition not taking place until 15 October — seven weeks after the draw — there is scope to book a holiday around the matches.

Small-stadium fixtures are the exception to this rule. If a big club is drawn away against a club playing in a small ground, the allocation will likely sell out immediately. Look out for these fixtures when the draw takes place and purchase them straight away.

Istanbul is one of the more affordable options when it comes to major European final destinations, though flight and hotel prices will start climbing again once we know the semi-finalists in early May ahead of the 2 June 2027 final.
